Poor man's rowing set-up: Pair of double-tube sockets you can bolt to a board. Lay board across gunwales. Rowing outriggers snap into sockets and clamp to gunwales. You sit on the board. Pay $25 for this pair of sockets, instead of $100 or more for crossbar, clamps and seat . The gunwale clamps of the rowing outriggers plus your weight on the board work pretty well to secure it, but if you add floats, you'll want to at least strap the board down.
